Common Room began life as a bar and live music venue, which means many of the things you’d normally have to bring into a function space are already here.
From the sound system and stage to the bar and dance floor, the venue is ready for celebrations — while still feeling intimate, relaxed and unmistakably Common Room.
Fully Licensed Bar
Common Room has its own fully equipped and licensed bar, with a hand-picked selection of wines, tap beers, and other beverages to keep your guests happily refreshed throughout the evening.
And when the occasion calls for a late one, our licence allows the celebrations to continue until 2am.
Dance Floor
When the speeches are finished and the music goes up, there’s space to get everyone dancing.
Our dedicated dance floor makes Common Room particularly well suited to birthdays, weddings, Christmas parties and celebrations that are meant to go a little later.
Stage
Bands, DJs, acoustic performers, comedians, speeches — this is a venue that knows live entertainment.

Common Room is a live music venue at heart and has a quality sound system ready for music, DJs and live entertainment, helping you create the atmosphere you want without turning an empty function room into a music venue from scratch.
Garden Bar
Step outside without leaving the party. Our garden bar provides a relaxed outdoor space where guests can sit, talk and enjoy a drink away from the dance floor, with an outdoor fire adding warmth and atmosphere on cooler evenings.

Toilet facilities are located within the venue for convenient guest access during your evening.
Parking
Being in central Hastings gives your guests a number of convenient parking options. There is some off-street parking behind Common Room, along with street parking on Heretaunga Street and nearby Warren Street.
